AFMS COUNSELLING

Q: What is the counselling process for AFMS?

A: Candidates interested in AFMS screening must have cleared NEET and register on the DGHS website www.mcc.nic.in during MCC Registration. They should fill their eligibility based on the 5 categories provided by AFMS authorities. Subsequent rounds of offline counselling will be conducted by AFMS authorities.

Candidates who have not registered for AFMS PG counselling on the DGHS website www.mcc.nic.in will not have their merit declared, and no correspondence regarding this issue will be entertained from any candidate.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

Q: How many times can I take the NEET PG exam?

There's good news! You can take the NEET PG exam as many times as you want! So, there's no pressure to get it perfect the first time around.

Q: How many seats are available through NEET PG?

A: During the Master of Surgery program, over 13,600 seats, in Doctor of Medicine over 29,900 seats, in PG Diploma over 950 seats, and in DNB/FNB over 4440 seats will be available through NEET PG 2024.

Q: Which institutes have their own entrance exams?

A few institutes, like AIIMS and JIPMER, have their own exams. Here's a quick list:
1. AIIMS, New Delhi and other AIIMS

3. JIPMER (Puducherry)
4. NIMHANS (Bengaluru)

Q: What documents do I need for MCC counselling?

A: You'll need to provide some of the details you previously filled out in your NEET PG application form, which will then be submitted to the National Board Examinations (NBE) in New Delhi.

APPLICATION PROCESS

Q: How can I retrieve my forgotten password for registration?

A: If you forget your password, follow these steps: Enter the information provided during registration and answer the security question you set up during the process. This data will be checked against the registered candidates' database. If the information matches, you'll be allowed to create a new password to continue.

Note: Remember your password and keep your application form and admit cards until the admission process is complete. MCC/NIC cannot retrieve lost passwords.

Q: Will certificates in regional languages be accepted during reporting/joining?

A: Certificates issued by competent authorities should be in English or Hindi. Some states may require certificates in English only. It's advisable to carry a certified English copy of the original certificate if it's issued in a language other than English, along with the original certificate.

Q: What should I do if there's a discrepancy in the spelling of my name in documents and the application form?

A: If there's a spelling discrepancy in your documents, you must provide proof that they belong to the same person, usually in the form of an affidavit or undertaking.

COUNSELLING

Q: Do I need to visit a counselling center for registration or choice filling?

A: No, you can complete online registration and choice filling from any convenient location with internet access, including your home. Ensure uninterrupted internet connectivity.

Q: How much time will I have to join the allotted course?

A: Candidates must join the allotted college/course within the specified time mentioned in the counselling schedule. It's advisable not to wait until the last day due to variations in holiday schedules and working hours of different medical/dental colleges. Some colleges may take 2 to 3 days for admission formalities.

Q: If I apply for both AIQ and Deemed University, do I need to pay fees for both?

A: No, in such a scenario, you'll only pay the higher fee, which is Rs. 5000/- for the Deemed University as the registration amount, and Rs. 2 Lakh as a refundable security deposit.

Q: Is the security deposit refundable in all cases?

A: No, the security deposit will be forfeited if the candidate doesn't join the respective institution after being allotted a seat, or if the admission is cancelled due to reasons such as providing incorrect information during registration or failure to produce required documents during admission.

Q: What happens to un-allotted PG seats reserved for PwD candidates if there aren't enough qualified candidates?

A: Un-allotted PG seats reserved for PwD candidates will be reverted/converted to respective categories (SC, ST, OBC) during the second round of AIQ and Mop Up round (Central Universities) after processing choices for PwD category candidates.

Q: What are the guidelines for choice filling before the first and second rounds of the online allotment process?

A: Fill in your seat choices carefully, ranking them from higher to lower preference.

Q: Can I modify my choices during the choice submission period?

A: Yes, you can modify, add, or delete your choices before locking them. However, ensure you lock your choices by the specified date and time. It's advisable to lock your choices before every round of counselling and keep a printout for reference.

Q: Who is not eligible for the Stray Vacancy Round of Deemed/Central Universities?

A: Candidates who joined the allotted seat in Round-2 of AIQ/Deemed/Central Universities, candidates allotted a seat in Mop Up Round of DGHS, or candidates who joined the allotted seat in Mop Up Round of DGHS are not eligible.

Q: Will MCC pay interest on the refundable security deposit?

A: No, MCC will not pay any interest on the refundable security deposit.

Q: What are the changes in the counselling scheme?

A: From 2021 onwards, four rounds of AIQ counselling will be conducted, and seats will not revert back to respective states after completion of round 2 of AIQ.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Q: Who is not eligible for NEET PG?

A: Candidates without a medical degree recognized by the Indian Medical Council Act 1956 or without an internship certificate are not eligible to appear for NEET PG.

Q: Who conducts the NEET PG Entrance Test?

A: The National Board of Examination (NBE) conducts the NEET PG.

Q: What are the eligibility criteria for Foreign Nationals?

A: Foreign nationals are not required to have temporary registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC) at the time of writing NEET-PG. However, they may obtain temporary registration for the duration of their Post Graduate course. This registration is granted by the NMC upon payment of prescribed fees and is limited to the medical college/institution where the foreign national is admitted for postgraduate studies.

Q: What are the eligibility criteria for Foreign Medical Graduates?

A: Indian citizens or overseas citizens of India who have obtained their Primary Medical Qualifications from Medical Colleges outside India should have qualified the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (Screening Test) conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences. They should also be registered with the NMC or State Medical Council and have completed their internship or will complete it before August 11, 2024. Foreign Medical Graduates must bring their FMGE Pass certificate issued by NBEMS along with the provisional/permanent registration certificate issued by a medical council on the testing day.

Q: Will there be separate counselling for All India Quota and 50% Institutional Quota?

A: This time, there is a common counselling software for AIQ, Deemed University, Central Institutional Quota, I.P University & ESIC. Candidates eligible for counselling for the 50% Institutional Quota should opt for choices in order of preference between AIQ and 50% Institutional Quota. Seats will be allotted based on choice and merit from the filled choices. Preference will be given to Institutional candidates for their eligible institutions as per the institution's eligibility criteria.

RESULT ANALYSIS

Q: What information is included in the NEET PG result 2024?

A: The NEET PG 2024 result will contain the candidate's NEET PG roll number, NEET PG application number, name, father's and mother's names, gender, date of birth, nationality, category/subcategory, total marks obtained, percentile score, NEET PG All India Rank, NEET PG Qualifying Status, NEET PG AIR for 50% AIQ Seats, and NEET PG cut-off scores.

Q: What does the NEET PG merit list consist of?

A: The merit list will comprise three types of ranks:
(i) NEET PG 2024 rank
(ii) All India 50% quota rank
(iii) All India 50% quota Category Rank

Q: What is the validity period of the NEET PG result?

A: The NEET PG result is valid only for the current admission session, i.e., 2022 for MD/MS/DNB/PG Diploma courses, and cannot be carried forward for the next session of admissions.

ABOUT RESERVATIONS

Q: What is the criteria for OBC reservation in Central Institutes of IP University?

A: OBC candidates from the state quota of IP University can avail of OBC reservation within IP University seats, but they will be considered as UR (General Category) candidates for the All India Quota.

Q: Can a candidate pay the Registration Fee and Security Deposit from an NRI Account?

A: No, according to Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Rules, MCC cannot refund the security deposit to an NRI Account. If a candidate wishes to use funds from their NRI Account for counselling registration, they must transfer funds from the NRI Account to an NRO Account first, and then from the NRO Account to MCC. Refunds from MCC will be credited only to the NRO Account.

EXAM PATTERN

Q: Will NEET PG be discontinued?

A: The Union Health Minister has confirmed that NEET PG will be discontinued three years after the enactment of the NMC Bill. It will be replaced by the NEXT exam.

Q: How many questions are there in NEET PG 2024?

A: NEET PG 2024 will consist of 200 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) according to the exam pattern.

Q: Is there negative marking in NEET PG?

A: Yes, for every incorrect answer, 1 mark will be deducted from the candidate's score in NEET PG.

Q: What is the duration of NEET PG?

A: Candidates will have 3 hours and 30 minutes to attempt all the questions in the NEET PG entrance exam.

Q: In how many languages is NEET PG conducted?

A: NEET PG is conducted only in the English language.
